Step By Step Infant Developmental Center was established in 1984 with a mission to ensure that families who have infants and toddlers, birth to three, with diagnosed disabilities or developmental delays receive therapies, resources, and supports that assist them in maximizing their child’s development.
Step By Step is a comprehensive multi-program agency experienced in evaluating and treating a broad range of disabilities and delays through therapeutic intervention in a range of home, community, school, and child care settings. Step By Step is approved by the New York City Early Intervention Program to provide eligible children with Early Intervention services at no out-of-pocket costs to parents. Step By Step is funded and regulated by the New York State Department of Health and in New York City by the New York City Department of Mental Health and Mental Hygiene.
Step By Step is staffed by experienced licensed/certified pediatric professionals who provide comprehensive evaluations and the following interventions in the familiarity of your child’s or caretakers home or Step By Step’s well equipped center:
- Special Instruction
- Speech Therapy
- Feeding Therapy
- Physical Therapy
- Occupational Therapy
- Family Training
- Social Work/Psychology
- Vision Therapy
- ABA Therapy – Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy – a collaborative intensive approach to meet the needs of children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum disorder. ABA services are offered in the child’s home environment or at the SBS center by qualified staff in a clean well equipped group.
- Assisting technology devices and services – equipment and services that are used to improve or maintain the abilities of a child to participate in such activities as playing, communication, eating or moving.
- Aqua Therapy – a therapy program conducted in our sanitary and well maintained indoor pool by licensed Occupational Therapists trained in aquatic therapy, addressing goals specific to your child’s needs.
Step By Step provides every family with an experienced Service Coordinator, highly skilled and knowledgeable in all Early Intervention who will assist your family in navigating the Early Intervention systems. Our Service Coordinators speak a variety of languages including English, Yiddish, Spanish, Hebrew and Hungarian.
